What is Coimbatore Chamber Chorale (CCC)?

Coimbatore Chamber Chorale is a choral society, started in 2011 to promote and create awareness about choral singing in both art and Church Music.
The driving force for the formation of this group is Faith Ragland, a trained passionate classical violinist and cellist, who has a rich experience of playing for and conducting choirs. He is an advanced level violinist and a musician with the India Youth Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Vijay Upadhyaya. He has the rich experience of conducting choirs and has undergone a conducting workshop in Italy and had master classes under the world class conductor and the co-founder of Kings Singers, Simon Carrington. He has been invited to the Stamps Baxter School of Music, USA on a scholarship.
Since its inception, CCC has organized various art music and church music concerts, nurturing young performers and audiences with high quality music. The “Monsoon Rhapsody”, which was organized in October 2012 was a major hit and was very well received by the audience.
In March 2013, CCC joined hands with the Vienna University Choir from Austria and Trivandrum Choristers Association, accompanied by India Youth Orchestra. The concerts were presented in Coimbatore, Trivandrum and Nagercoil.
CCC did a historic performance of JUDAS MACCABEUS, an oratorio by George F Handel along with prestigious 100 years old Madras Musical Association with a massive 150 voice choir at Coimbatore in March 2015, conducted by Mr. Augustine Paul and Mr. Faith Ragland

Coimbatore Chamber Chorale was invited to perform Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem Mass along with Vienna University Chorus & Orchestra in Vienna, Austria under the baton of Maestro Vijay Upadhyaya.  This was in June 2016. This was a wonderful experience for CCC as were able to learn and explore many things both musically & culturally.

Who is CCC?
This is a group, with 40 members from different walks of life, students, professionals to business men and the group being energized by lot of youngsters. The community gathers every week to work out for a lively year round musical adventure.

Our Standards:
By excellence of performance and diversity of musical repertoire, CCC aims to build an appreciative audience for western classical and contemporary music in the city of Coimbatore. We are continually involved in presenting the finest and most interesting of the world’s composers and ensembles to reflect & contrast.
In this process of striving for excellence, CCC appeared for a professional choral assessment examination at silver level, conducted by Trinity College of Music, London in Nov 2012 and was awarded merit. This will set us a bench mark in our performance standards.

CCC presents 4 to 5 sacred music concerts in a year at various churches. One of the visions of CCC is to promote quality choral church music, thereby revive the dying singing of our mainline churches. Songs the church loved to sing are no longer part of the church’s worship and when change is constant there is no time for the young to build up their memory banks. The music has the capacity to strike at the core of our beings in a way that God has designed our beings to respond. With this regard, CCC is trying to establish a Department of Church Music which will cater to the needs & promote quality church music.
